It was impossible to capture just how beautiful Praia de Lopes Mendes was on my second trip to Brazil in 2011. On both trips I spent a lot of time on the beach and this one was probably the most stunning. With no buildings or restaurants in sight, Lopes Mendes is lined with palm and almond trees and is a surfers paradise. Getting there involved a scenic 40-minute boat trip from Ilha Grande, where we stayed for the week, to Manges beach, the last boat stop before Lopes Mendes. Landing on the beach, you walk up over a hill and then down through a small forest to the beach. This picture is me walking out of the forest with the beach right in front of me in all its glory.

I have a strange attachment to this country and this photo gives me a feeling of Saudades do Brasil.
